Below is a photograph of a B-29 on Tinian, the Circle X 16, "The 8 Ball." Although this is not John L. Wright's aircraft, it indicates the markings of his squadron

We are including this entire file in honor of John Wright because he and his entire crew were KIA the same night as our Uncle Bob and his crew were over Kobe, Japan on the night of 17 March 1945.

This crew had dropped their bomb load and had made the left turn to exit Kobe over Awaii-Shima in Osaka Bay. Their airplane exploded and crashed in or near Osaka Bay. Only six bodies were reported found and the entire crew was KIA. Capt. Roth was substituting for the regular navigator on this flight.

17 Mar 45-Kobe
The attached records of John L. Wright were sent to us by a lady in Arizona, who found them in the bottom of a box she purchased at a garage sale. We have subsequently forwarded the original records to our friend Rick Feldman, who is an expert and historian on the 9th Bomb Group, 313th Bomb Wing. Rick and I continue to search for family members of Mr. Wright to return them.
